“H. A. Verschuren …. took up hybridizing late in life and achieved a great success with Etoile de Hollande and Hortulanus Budde in 1919. Souvenir de H. A. Verschuren represents the culmination of his work. He died in 1921 and his sons named the rose in his memory. (From: A Rose Odyssey,1937, pg. 140)

A tribute from the sons Hens, Jac and Toon to their father, the founder of the rose nurseries in Haps. This was the first rose that the 3 successors of Hens Verschuren brought onto the market in 1922 with their company H.A.Verschuren & Sons.

And it was an instant hit, judging by the prizes that were won with it….
